The Chinese footprint finally gives a wake-up call to India

June 8, 2011 by Defence Info Bureau Leave a Comment

Bureau Report

The Indian Army is planning to deploy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and light observation helicopters along the eastern borders with China to monitor the activities of the People’s Liberation Army. This apart, the defence posture will get a considerable boost with a fast paced construction of permanent defences and bunkers along the borders. Sukhoi-30MKI fighters are already based in IAF airbases like Tezpur and Chabua. Army Aviation bases in Assam are also being upgraded. These are steps in the right direction to counter the massive build up that China is carrying out along its border with India. China’s rapidly-expanding footprint in infrastructure projects in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir is yet another reason for India to be very worried. Some free advice for our sleeping pigeons – The cat is here so beware; better late than never and henceforth- the sooner the better. Let’s hope that the message goes through
