Defenceinfo Bureau Report

In view of the new dispensation given by the govenrment in response to the demand of One rank One pension by the military veterans of the country, the admissible basic pension for pre-2006 officer retirees shall be as below:-

Lieutenant : Rs 13,500

Captain : Rs 15,350

Major : Rs 18,205

Lt Colonel : Rs 26,265

A retired colonel who is presently drawing about Rs25,700/- will now get Rs 27795/-, a difference of Rs2095/- with prospective not retrospective which implies that there will be no arrears.

The community of soldiers is feeling let down yet again while the government is saying that it is slowly moving towards the ultimate objective of OROP and that this amount has also been sanctioned under circumstances of severe fiscal constraints
